Digital Traveling in Marketing! How Can Traveling Improve My Marketing?

In a business world where marketing is different and has many varieties both in form and culture, it’s essential to be on the lookout for what’s happening all around you. But that’s not the only destination. Digital traveling in marketing is a must for any business owner. Read on the article below to find out what I mean.

If you are a traveler, or have at least traveled out of your town once in your life, you have seen all the differences in how people do things. They have small yet distinctive characteristics which make them different from the people of your town.

Now let’s broaden our perspective. In a different country, these changes and distinctions become more and more noticeable. I am not here to give a lecture on what you already know, so, I would like to get on with it and start talking about what I wanted to write about in the first place.

What is Digital Traveling?

What I mean by digital traveling is the act of traveling outside your country’s borders in a manner of speaking digitally. When you are reading about different cultures, viewing photos of a city/country you love that’s not your own, you are digitally traveling there. You are familiarizing yourself with how it looks and feels to be there. You want to learn more about them.

Digital Traveling in Marketing

As marketers, we’re going to be limited in our perceptions if we limit ourselves to the place we work, that’s our country. Digital traveling in marketing is our going out of our way to explore the whats and hows of marketing outside our region. We want to get to know how a certain product is marketed in a different country and even make improvements to it to be usable in our case in our own country.

This is especially important if we are struggling as a new business owner, in finding way to market our new product; a product that is not well-known in our area of target audience.

How Can Digital Traveling Help Me Improve My Marketing?

On customer’s end, digital traveling is going through reviews of products and services, checking out if there is an online presence (even it is in another country) that suits their needs and compares better in terms of pricing and quality. Digital traveling, however, is much broader for a business owner offering those services and products.

A business owner/marketer needs to get their feet of the ground, figuratively, to go abroad, see what marketers there are using to sell/present products and ideas, services and information. For example, when you are trying to find a better way of using social platforms to create a strategy for your marketing efforts, you might want to check out what marketers in the same industry are doing in another country. Linkedin is a perfect place to test this theory out. All you need is a personal account and in a few hours, you will find excellent examples of this strategy working.

Digital Traveling on LinkedIn

On Linkedin, search for a category you are working in, like “Content Writer” and choose “People” and change the location to another country. You will see hundreds, maybe thousands of content writers who are working as freelancers. And you will instantly start getting ideas you can do to improve your abilities to communicate your skills on your website in a way that will get you clients faster in your country too. I will be talking about Linkedin more in the coming posts, so check periodically BigEvs Marketing Blog to know.

Finding Other Ways to Do Some Digital Traveling in Marketing

Linkedin is not the only place you can do digital traveling for the benefit of marketing. Use Google to search for businesses overseas, and do a sweep through their websites, social media and reviews made on them on big platforms. Find out what works for them and if their way of doing things would work in your country.

Final Verdict

Doing marketing can be tricky when you are just starting out. There is a very wide zone to cover and technicality matters. However, more than that, extending your knowledge of your competition’s marketing and even the marketing efforts of companies who don’t even share your target market will go a longer way in helping you decide what can work better in your case.
